Il doit obtenir votre permission avant de commencer quoi que ce soit, y compris un traitement en sant\u00e9 mentale comme du counseling, une th\u00e9rapie ou une m\u00e9dication.<\/p>\n<p>Selon la loi, nous avons tous \u2013 y compris les personnes atteintes d&#8217;un trouble mental \u2013 le droit d&#8217;accepter ou de refuser des soins de sant\u00e9, \u00e0 moins de ne pas pouvoir comprendre\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>l&#8217;information concernant le traitement, <strong>et<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>ce qui pourrait se passer avec ou sans le traitement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Si le patient n&#8217;est pas capable de comprendre l&#8217;information sur un traitement ou ce qui pourrait se passer s&#8217;il re\u00e7oit ou refuse le traitement, il peut \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0incapable\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>C&#8217;est alors une autre personne, appel\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0mandataire sp\u00e9cial\u00a0\u00bb, qui d\u00e9cide des traitements pour lui. Pour en savoir plus sur les mandataires sp\u00e9ciaux, consultez les \u00e9tapes\u00a02 et 3.<\/p>\n<p>Il se peut aussi que vous soyez capable de prendre certaines d\u00e9cisions, mais pas d&#8217;autres. Si par exemple vous avez \u00e0 la fois un trouble de l&#8217;humeur et un trouble psychotique, selon vos sympt\u00f4mes, vous pourriez \u00eatre mentalement capable de d\u00e9cider s&#8217;il vous faut prendre vos m\u00e9dicaments pour le trouble de l&#8217;humeur, mais pas de d\u00e9cider si vous devez prendre ceux pour le trouble psychotique.<\/p>\n<p>Et m\u00eame si vous avez un mandataire sp\u00e9cial, cela ne veut pas dire qu&#8217;il peut tout d\u00e9cider \u00e0 votre place. Votre professionnel de la sant\u00e9 doit d\u00e9terminer pour quels traitements vous pouvez prendre vos propres d\u00e9cisions, et pour lesquels c&#8217;est le mandataire qui devrait d\u00e9cider.<\/p>\n<p>Le m\u00e9decin doit obtenir une permission (qu&#8217;on appelle \u00ab\u00a0consentement\u00a0\u00bb) avant de vous traiter. Il ne peut pas vous traiter sans votre accord ou celui de votre mandataire sp\u00e9cial.<\/p>\n<p>La seule exception, c&#8217;est en cas d&#8217;urgence.
