Answer

Usually, you have 90 days to submit your documents if:

  • you’re applying to the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) for the first time, or
  • you’re already getting ODSP benefits but have a medical review coming up.

The documents include the forms that your health-care provider must complete.

Getting extra time

You can ask for extra time if you can’t get an appointment with your health-care provider because they’re busy dealing with COVID-19. You do this by calling the Disability Adjudication Unit at 1-888-256-6758.

This applies if you need to send in:

  • a Health Status Report and Activities of Daily Living Index forms for an ODSP application, or
  • the Medical Forms for a medical review.

If you’re applying for ODSP and already on OW, you’ll continue to get your OW benefits in the meantime.

If you’re not on OW and have no other source of income, you may be able to apply for Ontario’s Emergency Assistance Program or the Canada Emergency Response Benefit.
