What can I do if a landlord discriminates against me?
In most cases, it is against the law for a landlord to treat you unfairly because of your:
- race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, and ethnic origin
- citizenship
- religion
- sex, gender, , and
- sexual orientation
- family and marital status
- age
or because you:
- are pregnant
- have children
- are on social assistance (welfare)
The law also bans by people working for your landlord. It also means your landlord must try to do something if you are being discriminated against by other tenants.
