2. Choose a correct termination date

Your notice must say the date that you will end your tenancy and move out by. This is called the termination date.

For a monthly tenancy, your termination date must be the last day of a rental period. Usually this is the day before the rent is due.

Example 1: You have a monthly tenancy that starts on the 15th day of each month, which is the same day your rent is due. So the termination date must be the 14th day of a month.

Example 2: You have a monthly tenancy that starts on the 1st of each calendar month. So the termination date must be the last day of a month, such as April 30 or October 31.
