1. Keep track of the harassment
Question & Answer
What can I do if I am being harassed at work? It's a good idea to write down everything you remember about the . It's best to make the notes as soon as things happen when you still remember them well.
You could write the information in an email and send it to yourself. That way you have a record of when it happened. Try to focus on the facts of what happened more than how it made you feel.
Make notes about:
- the date, time, and place of each event
- who was there
- what people said or did, including who the people were
- what order things happened in
- any injuries you had
- any steps you took to try to fix the problem
- what you told your supervisor and when you told them
If you told your employer about the problem, be sure to include in your notes what they said.
Talk to your doctor
Being discriminated against or harassed often causes health problems for workers. Many workers become anxious or depressed. If this happens to you, tell your doctor about it.
Your doctor may be able to suggest treatment for you. And if you need to take legal action, your doctor may be able to write a letter for you.
