Find out about sick leave

You may be able to take sick leave if you've worked for your employer for at least 2 weeks in a row.

You can use up to 3 days of sick leave if you:

  • are sick or injured
  • have a medical emergency

A medical emergency includes surgery that's set up in advance, if you need it for medical reasons.

Your employer can require you to get a medical note as proof of your need for sick leave. Learn more in the step called Tell your employer and get proof that you need a leave.
