Can I take time off for sickness or personal emergencies?You may be able to take sick leave if you've worked for your employer for at least 2 weeks in a row.
You can use up to 3 days of sick leave if you:
- are sick or injured
- have a medical emergency
A medical emergency includes surgery that's set up in advance, if you need it for medical reasons.
Your employer can require you to get a medical note as proof of your need for sick leave. Learn more in the step called Tell your employer and get proof that you need a leave.
