Learn about overtime pay for longer hours

Ontario's (ESA) has minimum standards that employers must follow. This includes rules about overtime pay.

In most jobs, when you work more than 44 hours in a week, the hours above 44 are overtime hours.

You earn 1.5 times your hourly pay for each hour of overtime that you work. For example, if you get paid $17 an hour, your overtime rate is $25.50 an hour.

These ESA rules about overtime pay do not apply to you if you agree in writing to different rules.

Unions can make agreements about overtime pay that apply to workers.
