Go to your appointment with IRCC

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sends you a notice with a date, time, and place.

Your appointment with IRCC could be:

  • to take the citizenship test, if you're between 18 and 54 years old
  • for an interview with a citizenship officer
  • for a hearing with a citizenship officer or a citizenship judge

After an interview or a hearing, the citizenship officer or judge can decide if you qualify for Canadian citizenship, including whether you meet the residency requirements.

If you disagree with a decision

If you disagree with a decision about your citizenship application, you may want to get legal advice. Act quickly because there may be a time limit for steps you can take if you disagree.
