Understand how the CPP assesses your disability

A nurse practitioner who works for the decides whether your disability is severe and prolonged.

They look at things like:

  • what medical condition you have and how severe it is
  • how your condition or its treatment affect your ability to work
  • how likely you are to recover or get worse

When deciding if you get benefits, the CPP does not look at whether there are jobs you could do that are close to where you live.
