1. Learn more about how much rent you might pay
Question & Answer
What is rent-geared-to-income housing? How can I apply for it?Rent-geared-to-income (RGI) housing usually has rent that is about 30% of your income each month. If your household's main income is Ontario Works (OW) or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), your housing provider will use government charts to decide your rent amount.
The charts look at how many people are in your household, and how much income you earn that isn't government benefits. A household can be one person living alone.
Some utilities might not be included in your RGI housing. For example, RGI tenants often must pay for electricity themselves. If you have to pay for a utility, your rent will be slightly lower.
