5. Prepare for your hearing

After your application is filed, the LTB will schedule a hearing. They will also send you a Notice of Hearing package. This package contains information about the time and place of the hearing. The LTB will send a copy of this package to your landlord.

Put the hearing date in your calendar. If you miss the hearing, the LTB will probably dismiss your application. This means your application is cancelled.

You should start getting ready for your hearing right away after you file your application. You can also see if you and your landlord can agree to settle the case before the hearing.

It is important to be fully prepared for your hearing. You only get one chance. If you are not prepared or are missing important evidence, the LTB probably won't let you come back another day.
