3. Send in your application and pay the fees

You can set up an account to apply for a work permit online.

During COVID-19 most people have to apply online. Some people with disabilities or without access to a computer can apply by mail to this address:

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada – Work Permit
CPC-Vegreville 6212 – 55th Avenue, Unit 555
Vegreville, AB T9C 1X6

If you're not able to apply online, contact your local Service Canada or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for information on how to get paper copies of the forms you will need.

Fees

You usually must pay a work permit processing fee of $155. You might not have to pay this fee if you qualify for a fee exemption, for example if you're a refugee claimant or vulnerable worker.

You might also have to pay a biometrics fee of $85.

If you're applying for an open work permit, then you must pay both the work permit processing fee of $155 and an open work permit holder fee of $100.
