3. Send in your application and pay the fees
Question and answer
Can I work in Canada if I’m not a permanent resident? You can set up an account to apply for a work permit online. Most people have to apply online, but some people can apply on paper.
If you're not able to apply online, because of a disability, you can apply on paper. You can contact your local Service Canada or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for information on how to get paper copies of the forms you will need.
Fees
You usually must pay a work permit processing fee of $155. You might not have to pay this fee if you qualify for a fee exemption, for example if you're a refugee claimant or vulnerable worker.
You might also have to pay a biometrics fee of $85.
If you're applying for an open work permit, then you must pay both the work permit processing fee of $155 and an open work permit holder fee of $100.
