1. Understand the rules about living with family

The rules about living with a spouse don't apply to close family members.

If you live with a close family member, the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) might ask you to show proof of how you're related to each other. For example, you might do this by showing birth certificates that prove how you're related.

Close family members include your:

  • children, stepchildren, and grandchildren
  • parents, step-parents, and grandparents
  • brothers and sisters
  • uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews
