3. Start your application, if you’re not on OW

If you're not getting from Ontario Works (OW), you start by applying to the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).

You may be able to start your ODSP application online.

If the online application says you're not eligible, contact your local office to find out if this is correct.

Or, you can contact your local ODSP office to apply.

If you apply online

Make sure to have all of your information and documents ready before you start filling out the online application.

The information you enter goes to your local ODSP office. Within 5 business days, a worker from that office is supposed to phone you to set up an appointment to complete the application.

If you apply online but don't have a phone number, call your local ODSP office to make the appointment.

If you call ODSP to apply

They will:

  • ask you some questions on the phone
  • give you an appointment to come in and complete your application

If ODSP does not want to take your application

If you're talking to an ODSP worker on the phone and they don't want to give you an appointment to complete your application, ask to speak to a supervisor. Tell the supervisor that you want to complete your application.

If there's still a problem, contact your community legal clinic right away.

Changing the meeting place

The appointment to complete your application is usually at the local ODSP office.

If getting to the local ODSP office is hard for you, ask the ODSP worker to meet with you at your home or somewhere else that's better for you.
