4. Learn what happens at your hearing
If the Minister intervenes in person in your refugee hearing, they can:
- present ,
- ask questions to you or your witnesses if you have any, and
- make submissions in writing about your claim after your hearing.
The Minister can also make written submissions about your refugee claim without attending your hearing.
Order of questioning
If the Minister does not attend your hearing, the Refugee Board member questions you first and then your lawyer questions you.
If the Minister comes to your hearing, they ask questions first, then the Board member, followed by your lawyer.
