Updated information on employment law

Steps to Justice has updated information about the increase to minimum wage that took effect on October 1, 2021, as well as changes to Employment Insurance (EI) that took effect on September 26, 2021. These EI changes:

• lower the minimum EI payment amount from $500 to $300
• raise the minimum “insurable hours” required to qualify for EI from 120 to 420 hours for all benefit types
• reintroduce the one-week waiting period for EI payments
