What is diversion?
3. Accepting responsibility
You may have to accept responsibility for what people say you did before you're allowed to have diversion. This is not usually a formal process.
It might involve discussion with a diversion intake worker about why you committed the offence. The diversion intake worker might also discuss whether:
- you learned a lesson from being charged
- you understand that committing offences is wrong
- you understand what can happen when you do something criminal
Any discussions you have with diversion workers are confidential. They can't be used against you in court later.
