2. Ask questions if a company wants money

A company that asks for a fee might be trying to trick you into giving them money. They might not have any jobs to offer you.

So learn as much as you can about the company that's asking you to pay a fee. For example, try to find out:

• the full name of the company's contact person
• their business address
• their website address and phone number

If the company is a recruiter or a temp agency, make sure they have a license from the government.

Do not give them your Social Insurance Number (SIN) or other personal information unless you're sure it's safe for you to do this.
