4. Wait for CAS to complete its investigation

After looking at all the information, the Children's Aid Society (CAS) worker decides whether your child is a child in need of protection. This means CAS thinks your child has been or is at risk of being harmed because of something that you or another caregiver has done or not done.  

If the CAS worker thinks that your child is not in need of protection, they close the file. The CAS worker usually sends you a letter to confirm this.

The CAS worker might give your family information about services in the community that might be helpful.
