4. Get legal services for a lower price
Some places offer legal services for a lower price than usual.
JusticeNet
JusticeNet is a not-for-profit organization that helps people find legal services when their income is too high for legal aid but too low to afford legal fees. Their website has a list of lawyers, paralegals, and mediators who charge reduced fees based on your income and family size. You must register and pay a small fee to use their services.
Law offices that charge a lower price
Some law offices charge lower fees for a lawyer to draft your will and powers of attorney. One example is Axess Law.
Unbundled services
Some lawyers provide “unbundled services”. This means you pay a lawyer to help you with something specific. For example, you might hire a lawyer to only prepare your documents, represent you in court, or help you decide if you can make a claim.
Unbundled services are also called limited scope services or legal coaching.
The National Self-Represented Litigants Project has a directory of lawyers who offer unbundled services.
