Am I eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a Government of Canada program that helps some Canadians pay for certain dental costs.

To qualify for the CDCP your family must be less than $90,000 a year and you must not have private dental insurance.

You can still qualify if you're covered by some social programs from the Government of Ontario. For example, Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO), the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), or the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Plan (OSDCP).

The CDCP only covers certain dental services. And for some services, you need special approval to get coverage.

The program also has a maximum amount that it pays for each service. If your dentist charges more than the program's maximum, you need to pay the difference unless you're covered by HSO or ODSP.

You must also pay a percentage of the cost if your family income is over a certain amount.

You can apply online or over the phone by calling 1-833-537-4342.

You must re-apply every year.
