4. Appeal the decision
You may be able to appeal to the Health Services Appeal and Review Board (Appeal Board) if:
- you don't agree with the final decision from Ontario Health atHome, or
- you did not get the final decision within 60 days.
To start the appeal, tell the Appeal Board that you want a hearing.
You can write a letter and fax it to the Appeal Board or send an email to hsarb@ontario.ca. Include your name, address, phone number, and email address. Check their website to see if the process for starting an appeal has changed.
If you have a representative who's helping you with your appeal, include their name and contact information as well. Your representative might be a family member, a friend, a lawyer, or someone else.
You must also include a copy of the decision you're appealing.
When the Appeal Board gets your request, they send you their rules and information about:
- what you need to do, and
- what will happen at the hearing.
You also get a date and time for your hearing.
During COVID-19, the Appeal Board has not been holding any hearings in person. Most hearings are being done by phone. They have not yet said if this will change in the future.
