1. Check if the notice says why your landlord wants you to leave
Question & Answer
If my landlord gives me an eviction notice, do I have to move? You can only be evicted for the reasons set out in the Residential Tenancies Act.
If your landlord used a Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) form, the form will already have the reason for the eviction. Or the form will have a list where your landlord must choose the reason.
If your landlord did not use the LTB's form, you should check the LTB's list of reasons for eviction.
If the doesn't give a proper reason, or doesn't give enough details, the LTB can decide that your landlord can't use the notice to you. You will probably have to go to an LTB hearing to make this argument.
