1. Tell your landlord there is a problem 

You should talk to your landlord if you're concerned about:

• where they put a security camera
• how they are using it
• what it's recording

It's a good idea to give your landlord a written letter and keep a copy for yourself in case you need to prove that you told them about the problem. Your letter should say:

• the date,
• your name, unit number, and contact details
• what the problem is, for example, the camera invades your privacy by looking into your unit
• what you want your landlord to do about the problem

Your letter should include information about how the camera is causing a privacy issue that affects your use and reasonable enjoyment of the unit.

Your landlord might decide to change the camera's location or to stop using it improperly.
