2. Tell IRCC about your child

You cannot sponsor your child if:

you had a child when you became a , and
you did not tell Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) about them before you became a permanent resident.

The same is true if your , , or did not tell IRCC about their child when they became a permanent resident.

If this is your situation, you need to get legal advice about:

the risk of losing permanent resident status
options for the child to come to Canada

You might be able to ask IRCC to approve an application to sponsor the child based on or reasons. You should get legal advice about your options and legal help with making any H&C requests.

When applying for permanent resident status

If you're applying for permanent resident status, you must list all family members. Do this even if they're missing or not coming to Canada.

You must give true and complete information. And you will not have the right to sponsor someone who was your when you applied for or became a permanent resident, if you did not tell IRCC about them before becoming a permanent resident.
