Beware of scams
People have been getting phone calls with a pre-recorded message telling them their Ontario Works account has been deleted.
This is a scam to trick you into sharing your personal information. If you get a call like that, hang up the phone. You can report these calls to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.

Can I still get OW while I’m in the hospital?If you're getting from Ontario Works (OW), you have to tell them when you move or change where you're living.
For example, you need to tell OW if you're staying in one of the following:
- a general hospital
- a psychiatric hospital
- a rehabilitation hospital
- a live-in program for treating substance abuse
- a long-term care home
You need to tell OW so they can decide:
- if you still qualify for assistance, and
- how much assistance you should get.
