1. Learn when you can change or cancel a Power of Attorney

As long as you're mentally capable of making a Power of Attorney for Personal Care, you can cancel or revoke it, or make a different one.

You can make a Power of Attorney for Personal Care if you're 16 years of age or older and mentally capable.

Being capable to make a Power of Attorney for Personal Care means:

• you understand whether your attorney is truly concerned about how you live and are taken care of, and
• you understand that you may need this person to make decisions for you.

Only you can change or cancel your Power of Attorney. And you must do it without anyone forcing you to or telling you that you must make one to get health care or another service.
