3. Get emotional support
There are organizations in Ontario that can talk to you about the abuse. They can explain your options, and help you find services and support in your community. For example:
- The Victim Support Line is free. They can refer you to programs and services in your community, such as counselling and shelters. Call 1-888-579-2888.
- The Assaulted Women’s Helpline is free. They take calls in many languages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They can tell you where to get help and how to find a safe place to stay. Call 1-866-863-0511.
- Talk4Healing is free. They provide services to Indigenous women living in Northern Ontario. You can talk to someone who speaks English, Ojibway, Oji-Cree, or Cree. Call 1-855-554-4325.
- Support Services for Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse is free. They take calls in many languages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They provide services to men who have survived sexual abuse. Call 1-866-887-0015.
