4. Get a decision

The Victim Quick Response Program+ (VQRP+) will send you and the service provider a letter with their decision within:

  • 3 business days for funeral and emergency expenses
  • 5 business days for counselling or traditional Indigenous healing expenses
  • 10 business days for applications from those who were seriously injured by a violent crime or by the immediate family member of a homicide victim

If you disagree with a decision, you might be able to submit another application or apply for a judicial review. When you apply for a judicial review, you're asking a judge to review a decision because of a big legal or factual mistake in the decision.

It's a good idea to speak with a lawyer if you want a judicial review. Contact your caseworker at your local VQRP+ service provider to discuss reapplying.
