2. Choose the correct termination date

Your notice must say the date that you will end your tenancy and move out by. This is called the termination date.

For a fixed-term tenancy, you must use the last day of the term as your termination date.

NOTE: You do not have to move out just because your term is ending. If you don't give notice or do anything else, you automatically become a month-to-month tenant. You could also:

• give notice to move out at the end of a later month
• renew your lease for another fixed term if you and your landlord both agree
