2. Choose the correct termination date

For a  tenancy, you must use the last day of the  as your  date.

Example: You have a 10-month that goes from September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. If you want to move out when your lease ends, you must use June 30, 2025 (not July 1) as your termination date.

NOTE: You do not have to move out just because your term is ending. If you don't give notice or do anything else, you automatically become a  tenant. You could also:

  • give notice to move out at the end of a later month
  • renew your lease for another fixed term if you and your landlord both agree
