3. Serve the Notice of Examination

Serve the document

Serve a copy of the signed Notice of Examination on each debtor or person you want to be examined. This must happen at least 30 days before the hearing.

If you're serving an individual, also give them a blank Financial Information Form. You don't have to include a Financial Information Form if you're serving the Notice of Examination to a company.

When you serve these documents, you must give them to the debtor directly. Serving documents this way is called personal service.

With personal service, the document can be served by:

• you
• your lawyer
• a company that you hire to serve the documents

Companies that serve documents are called process servers.

Once you've served the documents, complete and file an Affidavit of Service with the court for each person or company you served. This must happen at least 3 days before the examination.
