3. Learn what to do if you get an eviction notice

If your landlord wants to evict you for disturbing other residents or for causing damage with your security camera, they must give you a written notice. It can be on a Form N5: Notice to End your Tenancy for Interfering with Others, Damage or Overcrowding.

You do not have to move out just because you get this notice.

Check the Form N5 to see your landlord's reason for giving you the notice.

NOTE: Your landlord can use a Form N7: Notice to End Your Tenancy for Causing Serious Problems in the Rental Unit or Residential Complex if:

• your landlord believes and can prove that you deliberately and seriously damaged your rental unit or the building, or
• you and your landlord live in the same building that has 3 or fewer units, and your landlord believes that you seriously disturbed the landlord or another tenant.

The N7 notice has a different set of steps. For example, you cannot cancel an N7 notice by removing the camera. And an N7 notice has a shorter timeline than an N5 notice.
