2. Make notes about the discrimination

If you're being harassed or your employer has discriminated against you, make detailed notes about:

  • what happened, and
  • what people said.

Keep notes

It's best to make the notes when things happen. Send the notes to yourself by email if you can. This can help to prove the date that you made the notes.

Try to include information about:

  • the date, time, and place
  • who did or said things
  • who saw or heard what happened
  • what you did at the time

Save messages

Save any messages you get that say something that discriminates against you. These might be emails, texts, or social media messages.

Get copies of policies and rules

If the relates to a policy or rule that your employer has, get a printed copy of the policy or rule.
