1. Check that you gave the right notice
Question & Answer
I gave notice to end my tenancy. What happens if I want to stay? You might not have to move out at all if your had certain mistakes.
Your notice must:
- be in writing (it is best to use the LTB notice forms)
- include the address of the rental unit
- say on what day the is ending, and
- be signed by you or someone you've asked to sign for you.
If your notice is missing one of these things, you might not have to move.
Not enough notice time
You might also be able to stay if you didn't give enough notice. There are rules on how much time you must give in your notice. For example, you must give at least 60 days' notice for a tenancy, and the must be on the last day of your rental .
You should get legal advice if you are planning to say your notice wasn't good enough or had mistakes.
