After your refugee protection is ceased, you cannot make a new refugee claim in Canada. And you are .
You can lose your status even if you have lived in Canada for many years.
Get legal advice about your options
Depending on your situation, you might be able to apply for:
- a Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) where you explain why you're still afraid to return to your country
- permanent resident status based on Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) grounds
- CBSA to delay removing you from Canada, called a deferral of removal
It's very important to get legal help with these options. There are complicated rules about who can apply and when. And it's very difficult to succeed with a PRRA application, H&C application, or deferral request without legal help.
