3. Get a decision
Question & AnswerCan I appeal a decision about a CPP pension or benefit?
Service Canada reviews your request for a and looks over your application again.
Then, they send you a decision in the mail. This can take several months.
Service Canada could change their original decision. For example, this means you could:
- start getting a pension or benefit
- start getting the amount you first thought you should get
- start getting a different amount, for example, an amount lower than you were getting
Service Canada could also decide to keep their original decision.
You might disagree with Service Canada's new decision, even if it's different from the original one.
If you disagree with the decision
If you do not agree with Service Canada's reconsideration decision and why they made it, you can appeal to the Social Security Tribunal (SST).
